A Word in Season

The bible is replete with verses that show the Father’s desire to speak to us and make His intentions known (1st Corinthians 2:9-10). It is both a privilege and truly our heritage as sons and daughters to tap into the different seasons of God.

Hearing God has often been misconstrued as mysticism or even unattainable. Sometimes it may seem as though only a chosen few have access to our loving Father- but this is not the case with God. He says, call unto me and I will answer (Jeremiah 33:3), my sheep hear my voice…(John 10:27). These verses and many more are a clear indication of how the Father desires to fellowship with His children about those things dear to His heart.

In a recent time of prayer, the image of a geyser came to mind. A geyser is a hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air. The geyser is formed when water comes into close proximity with magma, resulting in high temperatures. The water is then ejected through a pipe-like narrow system that further contributes to the pressure of the geyser’s build-up. The heat that accompanies the jet of water is well above boiling point.

It was very clear to me that many in the body of Christ have been going through ceaseless assaults on their faith, relationships, finances and even health. All around, the pressure has been building and causing some to cower in fear and even give up. A sense of hopelessness, discouragement, and apathy has crept in, making it hard to pursue godliness.

Despite all this pressure, God is not unaware. He encourages us in Isaiah 35:3:Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."

You have probably heard the cliché, it is darkest before dawn? As you continue to hide yourself in the shadow of God’s wings, He will fight for you and your dawn will surely come. The key is to remain in His covering. Continue to press in, even when the odds are against you and the pressure refuses to let up.

The bible in 1st Peter 5:8 describes our adversary as a roaring lion, prowling around looking for someone to devour. We are, however encouraged in verse nine to: "Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because we know that our brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” Ultimately, the lion of the tribe of Judah has triumphed over all {Revelation 5:5a} and His roar is powerful, breaking every yoke of oppression from your life.

What the enemy has intended for your destruction, God is turning around for your good. The fire and pressure that has come, will serve the purpose of refining you into a vessel that God can use-a mighty tool in His hands.

This is what He says:“…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel your savior…” {Isaiah 43: 1-3}Like all seasons, this too will pass. Continue to fight the good fight of faith, and DO NOT GIVE UP!
